This excavation is my attempt to rediscover the relation between nature and man. The wave smashes everything from a natural object to an artifact by its big power, takes it to pieces like a jigsaw puzzle and washes up a lot of fragments onto the sandy beach. Though an individual washed-up fragment is reminiscent of its original shape, no one can see its former, complete shape and touch it actually. Dinosaur fossils also appear to be the pieces of jigsaw puzzle which was disassembled by time, a powerful factor of nature. A puzzle that no one can complete. I am interested in the relationship between the nature's process of disintegration of things and man's imagination to reconstruct them. All the things on earth are made by the laws of nature. I feel that way when I get close to nature. Things that exist separately in nature can, if seen from a certain point, become linked, single entity. I suppose that there is a certain category of things that are discernible not by words and figures, but solely by their shapes and textures. I hope to physicalize such things by using my own hands.

これは自然と人との関係を再発見するための発掘です。 波はその大きな力で、自然物から人工物まで、あらゆるものを打ち砕き、パズルのように分解して、たくさんのかけらを砂浜に打ち上げます。 打ち上げられたひとつひとつの断片は以前のかたちを様々に想像させます。しかし誰も、もとのかたち、実体にふれることはできません。 かつての恐竜の化石もまた、時間という大きな自然が打ち砕いた解けないパズルのようです。 自然による分解、それをもう一度組み上げる人間の想像、その関係に興味があります。 あらゆる地球上にあるものは大きな自然の法則によりつくられている。自然に触れているとそのように感じることがあります。 自然の中ではまったく別々の存在も、ある一点からみるとぴったり合わさることがあります。 そこには数字でも言葉でもない、かたちや質感からくる一つのカテゴリーがあるように思います。 私はそれを手を動かすことでかたちにしたいと考えています。
