From stones, serendipitous finds I picked up on the seashore I make work pieces. Walking along the beach, where thousands of stones carried by the wave,I look for really beautiful stones from among them.Finding beautiful stones starts theprocess of creating work pieces. Any person has an aesthetic feeling inside and picking up stones is the way to find a route to such sentiment in mind.Whenever I come across stones, I ask them what processes they went through.Natural object is continually changing under the influence of external world through the years. I follow the long time process adding minimal changes to stones to finish the work.As in the way waves abrade stones I scrape stones with careful attention. I add special care to natural objects with the hope that the artificial process counterpoints the naturalness more. Vice versa the process seems to me to search for the position of human beings in nature. By the person’s existence nature comes out, and as the person's existence comes out naturally.It is always continuous discovery and surprise. I wish to create an intermediate bridge between nature and human beings.

海の石を削り作品をつくっています。海岸を歩きそこに打ち寄せられる無数の石の中から本当に美しいと思う石を探します。探すという行為からつくることは始まっています。美しいという感情は人の中にあり、石を拾うことはそれを探し出してくる方法でもあります。石と出会ったとき、それらがどのような過程でここにあるのかをいつも考えます。自然物は長い時間と共にあらゆる過程を経て変化をつづけています。その過程のつづきとして最小限の手を加え作品にしています。波が石を削るのに限りなく近い方法で削っています。自然物に人の手を加えることで、自然をより際立たせたいと考えています。それは同時に自然の中での人間の位置を探す行為でもあると考えています。自然によって人の存在が見えてくるように人の存在によって自然が見えてきます。それはいつも発見と驚きの連続です。それらがつながり合うところを手を動かすことでつくっていきたいと考えています。
